The art centre
The art centre
Supported by the Emerige Group, the contemporary art centre is located on the Pointe des Arts on île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, at the heart of Grand Paris. Conceived as a place for discovery, creation and exchange, Large is committed to an open approach to contemporary art, placing the visitor experience at the heart of its mission.

Its programme celebrates the diversity of the French art scene, from emerging artists to major figures of the 20th and 21st centuries. Each exhibition is conceived as a narrative, bringing together historical works, contemporary art and new commissions created especially for Large.
Beyond its exhibition programme, Large supports artists in their practice by producing new works and providing a space for experimentation. In doing so, the art centre plays an active role in supporting contemporary creation.
Conceived as a place to spend time as much as a place to encounter art, Large welcomes all audiences through an ambitious accessibility policy, mindful guided tour and open spaces that encourage encounters, contemplation and exchange.
Large is run by a non-profit organisation (association loi 1901), overseen by president Laurent Dumas and director Paula Aisemberg.

An architecture open to île Seguin and the Seine
Large was designed by RCR Arquitectes, the Catalan architecture studio founded by Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta, winners of the 2017 Pritzker Prize, in partnership with the CALQ architecture agency.
Their approach is defined by close attention to materials, light, circulation and the relationship between the building and its surroundings. Inside, a sequence of narrower passages, long perspectives and monumental volumes creates a gradual journey through the building, shaped by alternating moments of compression and openness. The main exhibition space, which rises to a height of 14 metres, offers artists exceptional possibilities for creating and installing artworks.
Metal is central to the building’s identity. The mill-scale steel floor, whose surface changes with the light and with use, echoes the building’s metal envelope and gives the spaces a character that is both raw and refined.
The architecture is more than a setting for the art: it becomes an experience in its own right, transforming the way artworks, materials and space are perceived.
